LIM VISITS 4 RELOCATION SITES IN MANILA
Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim this morning
brought with him the Manila Disaster
Coordinating Council (MDCC) members in visiting
relocation sites in RASAC, Del Pan, Baseco and
Barangay 105 covered court, all in Tondo, as he
asked the evacuees to stay there until after
Pepeng has left the country.
The evacuees come from flood prone areas like
the Manila Bay area, esteros and other low lying
sites.
He brought with him his Chief of Staff Ricardo
de Guzman, City Administrator Jesus Mari Marzan
and OIC Jay de la Fuente of the Manila
Department of Social Welfare as well as medical
and dental teams to check up the evacuees and if
needed, provide them with immediate medical
care.
As Lim says, cramped evacuation camps are most
susceptible to disease spread and
contamination.
Lim’s gesture on the eve of Pepeng’s, hours
before Pepeng’s expected entry into the
country, shows his love and concern for his
constituents.

MANILA EXECS PUT UP POT FOR RELIEF OPERATIONS
Saddened by the devastation caused by
typhoon Ondoy, Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim
challenged the department heads to come up with
innovative ways to help the typhoon victims. One
way was to put up a relief "pot" that
would increase the budget for typhoon relief and
rehabilitation of damaged homes and city
facilities.
Vice Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno"
Domagoso started rolling the hat by chipping in
P20,000 from his personal funds. The pot that
was raised during the regular Monday department
heads and chiefs of offices (DEHECHO) meeting at
the Oval Room amounted to P41,500.
But this does not include yet the pledge of
Gemma Cruz-Araneta to chip in her budget for her
coming birthday of P50,000 to the relief pot.
Araneta's birthday is on September 30.
Lim, in presiding the meeting could not contain
his sadness from the damage to lives and
property by typhoon Ondoy in Metro Manila, which
the National Disaster Coordinating Council said
has claimed 86 lives and counting. Lim said he
was grateful to the Lord Almighty that Manila
was not as badly hit as say Marikina or Cainta.
The DEHECHO made the department heads set aside
whatever differences they had and work for a
common goal: to save and prepare Manila from
more calamities.
Lim, who chairs the city disaster coordinating
council (CDCC) is now preparing relief goods for
distribution to victims, putting p evacuation
centers and deploying health crews to provide
the healthcare needs of the evacuees.
The Vice Mayor actively helped out in ironing
everything from the administrative offices to
health services to the hospitals and enforcers
of peace and order including the barangays. He
is taking full control of mobilizing all of
these personnel to assist the typhoon victims.
Domagoso exhorted the department heads to go the
extra mile these days in providing the services
to Manilans, especially the typhoon victims, who
need their services most.
