Manila police
are now laying the groundwork for a computerized
closed-circuit television (CCTV) system that will
keep an eye on police stations and other key
facilities in the city.
Radio dzBB reported Tuesday that MPD head Chief
Supt. Roberto Rosales ordered the computerization of
the MPD's tactical operations center to turn it into
a war room.
He said he wants the war room to be
"computer-friendly" and to monitor the
CCTV units set up in all the city's 11 police
stations and critical areas.
The MPD said this will help them pinpoint
crime-prone areas and secure vital installations,
including the oil depot in Pandacan, the Light Rail
Transit (LRT), and other transportation terminals.
On the other hand, he said the CCTV units in police
stations will help them detect monkey business by
corrupt policemen, including those engaged in "hulidap"
activities.
